I'm stage 3 lung cancer even with covid 19 I still want my treatment
@Sharon55 You're not worried that it will put you at even higher risk of catching the virus? That's what I'm worried about. I still want to do my treatment, but I'm wondering if I should put it off until everything calms down a bit.
I'm still going for mine as tumours are shrinking
@mrjerry55 I was advised to delay radiotherapy as Hospital not sure if I was running a greater risk attending hospital 3 times a week for 5-8weeks ,also said they were uncertain if they would have to stop giving Radiotherapy half way through treatment Don't think even the professional s know what is the best thing to do in these circumstances Reluctantly I have decided to wait
@mrjerry55 never got a choice my oncologist just cancelled chemo and no discussion made as to ongoing treatment presumably i should be considered too far gone before can risk it THANKS
@Andilis Same for me, they never gave me the choice, radiologist phoned and cancelled it. I guess somehow radiation is considered a "non-essential" procedure so it's been postponed. I reckon I'll be ok, but there's still that little voice at the back of my mind wondering how long this is going to go and if the cancer is going to come back or spread.
Hope you all are staying sane through this! Stay safe!

Hello members, I hope you're all doing well! It's been a few days since we've checked in with one another. How are you doing during the lockdown? Are you staying busy? Is the isolation getting to you or are you staying positive? Feel free to continue sharing with us here.

The UK national optimum lung cancer pathway was revised at the start of the lockdown by the NHSE clinical expert group mainly about screening/early stage tumours but everything else should be discussed between the individual patient and their consultants/nurse. Some treatments place the patient at greater risk and you'll see on the list of those to be shielded are lung cancer patients receiving radical radiotherapy and chemotherapy - no other cancer (apart from blood cancers) was singled out in this way. therefore it's not about whether it's a priority - it's about the clinical risk - it would be a waste of everything done to date for that patient if they contracted the virus especially in a hospital setting.... some parts of the country are designating covid 19 free hospital sites where some cancer treatments can still happen with lower risk than usual site but of course, that means travelling further, if eligible. it's being reviewed all the time especially now in the UK there is 'spare capacity' for other conditions than covid 19 due to all the contingency work that's gone on with building extra capacity in nightingale hospitals and reconfiguring wards etc. Theatre space in particular has been taken to create ICU/critical care beds so surgical capacity is way down at the moment... always worth discussing with your medical team or nurse if you're able to about the specific risks and likely timeline of when treatment may resume for you.

Hello all, I had surgery late last year to have my tumour removed and when I'm fully recovered (still not there yet, I'm an old bugger) I might need more radiation to keep it from returning. I'm wondering if I should put off my appointments and further treatment with this coronavirus panic since it wreaks havoc on the immune system.
