@EmmyJane Hello EmmyJane, thank you for starting this discussion. Let me tag some members who can share their experience and advice with you.
Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Do you do sport with your RA? If so, what kind of exercise do you do? Are there any exercises or activities that are particularly adapted for RA? What do you for the pain? Feel free to share here!

@EmmyJane I tend to try to thinks that don't put too much strain on my joints, as I'm getting up there in age. My doctor recommended some like strengthening exercises that I do at home with small hand weights, and then I try to go for a swim at least once a week. I think water exercise is great for RA as it takes the pressure off your body. I also do a little yoga with my wife from time to time.
My yoga and strengthening may be a little slow for you as you're so young, but give swimming a try! It's a nice moment of calm for me too, I get to mull through my thoughts while doing a few laps and it gets the heart pumping.

@lizshi @yikesspikes Thank you both for your responses! I will definitely think about lifting some weights. Maybe I need to rebuild some strength, I haven't been as active as I would have like these past few years with the pain I was going through. I'll think about swimming too, I hadn't considered it before!

Hi everyone,
I'm 35 years old and I was diagnosed with RA after two and a half years of excruciating pain and wondering. I have been on methotrexate for just over a month, no side effects (at least not yet????).
I started to feel a little better and decided to go back to elliptical biking and then disaster struck!!! Horrible pains in my legs, feet, hips and of course complicated nights.
I feel very limited in terms of exercise. Even when I walk, I have to take a break after 20-30 minutes. It's really limiting ☹️ No more long walks, dancing...
Have you ever experienced severe pain after doing sport? If so, do you have any advice on how to deal with it? Which kind of exercise do you prefer?
Much love! xx
