I was very much included. The doctors told me everything I needed to know about the different options, so i felt comfortable with the solution. Of course the doctors had suggestions as to what they believed to be the best options for me, but I definitely felt that they listened to me. I had breast-conserving surgery followed by chemo and then radiation and just finished. I was very pleased with this solution.

I was amazed that people had treatment plans. I was told what I was going to have and that was basically that. I feel like I am just going along with things and if I ask any thing I get the feeling that I am being stupid or not listen too. So much so I no longer say anything. I almost feel like I have been forgotten. Care Plan does not exist.

I was involved and given choices regarding surgery. I opted for mastectomy and reconstruction. I look better now than I did before, dropped a dress size:)

I wasn't given a treatment plan! I was told what they thought and never once was I actually included in discussions. I've spent 6 years arguing with just about everyone connected with cancer treatment to get my point across. I know I've been branded as difficult because I have opinions and am determined to express them!
I get the impression the so called treatment plan is actually a guideline for the doctors, patients are supposed to just turn up and be calm , compliant, accepting and above all grateful. I'm sure that's covered on page one !!

@maddoglady I know what you mean about being branded difficult. I too get that feeling, because I have been fighting this cancer, since it came back, six years. I know a lot more then I did, and I get the feeling that they don't like it. That doesn't stop me, so don't let it stop you.
Keep fighting.
Shirley.

You're both right to fight for the treatments that you need; best of luck with everything.

I keep hearing stories about women being left without support or direction after their diagnosis! This has got to change! It's terrible.

I have never had a plan or been to a meeting . Have had a very disjointed journey . Lots of things have been missed I am 8 weeks post mastectomy . Have not started radiotherapy yet . Have bee treat like as if I am a nuisance .

Hello everyone,
When diagnosed, how much did your doctors include you in your treatment plan? How does your plan look? Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, targeted therapy - or maybe a combination?
Good day to you all,
Marina
