Hi everybody!
Ibuprofen works well. Since I now have a sensitive stomach, I take Celebrex which is prescription.

I agree ibuprofen works best, I take 600mg 3 times a day and also omeprazole to help my stomach. But heat is excellent too, when my hands are making me want to cry I fill up the sink with hot water and stick them in for as long as possible.

Great idea with the hot water @shonaM1975 ! Does anyone have experience with acupuncture or yoga for pain relief? I heard it works well.

Hello, Im a new member, and I have osteoarthritis in my back and also sciatica, also very painful. Im due to see an osteopath next month. Do you think this will help? many thanks

Hello Joankay. I regularly see an osteopath. As he explains it, he can't work miracles and make the inflammation go away, but he can release the pressure on the areas affected. It works for me. Don't know if it can benefit everyone, but I am very happy with the outcome. He has also given me exercises to keep my joints flexible.
I hope you will have a positive experience. :)

I am on naproxen, which is an anti inflammatory, omeprazole to protect my stomach & I was on co codamol but had very itchy dry skin so I have swapped to paracetamol. I'm not sure all the tablets I am taking are helping my pain really as I stopped taking all of it for just over a week due to my skin breaking out & was in just as much pain as usual! I have discussed this with my GP but they seem uninterested

Hello all. I am taking codeine and using Capsaicin cream. I have previously had corticosteroid injections in my knee, which worked well. But for the moment I have to do without, since the Capsaicin cream and codeine is enough to ease the pain (not to confuse it with making the pain go away!).
Pixienix73 - I think it is good that you are experimenting with what is working for you and it is really good that you stopped taking the meds to see if it actually makes a difference for you. Now of course you need to find a solution that works, but at least you are not stuffing yourself with pills that aren't helping you. I hope you will get through to your GP - otherwise you've got to start researching alternatives.. I can recommend the capsaicin cream! And some physio exercises can really help too! Good luck to you!
