I have had insomnia on and off for years and it has returned at the moment. I was just looking for a discussion for advice on this and what others do to deal with it

Hey Marlymoo,

I had major sleep problems a few years back, for about 4 years, I could get to sleep but wouldn't sleep for more than 90 minutes then I would be awake again, the Dr's put me on Zopiclone, but that was only for very short peroiods of time when I was really knackered that I couldn't function, but because they are addictive, it was a battle every time, but I found one you can buy on line called sleep aid by kirklands, it is an old fashioned antihistamine, and works wonders, http://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Sleep-Doxylamine-Succinate/dp/B002L4M4M0  I only have to take half a tablet about 30 minutes before I want to sleep I eat a little something after I take it like a biscuit or cracker, go to bed and do my clean sleep routine, make sure the room is the right temp, and spray my feet and I have restless legs and burning feet at night too, and I sleep all night and feel great in the morning.

it is also non addictive, and much cheaper than a prescription every few weeks, as you get 2 bottle of 90 tablets for about £17 when I last bought them, and because I only need half a tablet I have a years supply, I  found it was really good for getting me to not only go to sleep but also keep me asleep, I hardly take it these days, it worked that well I regulated my sleep pattern using them and any time it gets knocked off again I use them for a while.

I hope this works for you, these little babies gave me my life back.

Love light and peace x

Hey Stormy,

Thank you so much for the recommendation! My GP prescribed me zopiclone tablets too but they were only the 3.75mg strength and I only had seven to regulate my sleeping pattern a little bit. I find that I need something to get me over to sleep but what was distressing me lately was that I couldn't seem to stay asleep.

I will definitely try those ones you recommended because it would help and the fact that it is not addictive is a definite bonus

Hey hunny,

A neuro decided to take put me on amitriptyline for both pain and sleep after 5 days I was incapacitated, so I went back to the stuff I had been on and spoke to my GP and he said DO what works for me, and that The ones I was taking were far better for me anyway, less side effects non addictive, and work instantly.

I am sure you will find them of great use, I only take half a tablet which is 12.3 mg and sleep through and feel refreshed in the morning, take a snack with it as it activates it quicker, or you may find it doesnt hit you until breakfast which isn't so good ,it is the compound that used to be in Syndol, but they took it out as people were taking syndol for sleep as it was a side effect (and getting addicted as it had codeine and paracetamol in it), so now you can but the dox on its own for sleep.

let me know how you gets on , love light and peace x

Haze24 I'm exactly the same except sleeping tablets never worked for me. Unfortunately there's not really any advice I can offer as I struggle a lot with it too, all I can tell you is you're not alone
