I though I would open this discussion so that we can talk about therapies for austism spectrum disorder!
As you know, many types of therapies may be recommended for individuals with autism because of the wide range of strengths and challenges they may have or face.
Because of the wide spectrum, such type of therapies may include: educational therapies in and out of school, behavioural and/or developmental therapy, anger management therapy, family therapy, speech therapy and occupational and/or physical therapy.
And what about you? Do you or your loved one have any experience with therapy for autism spectrum disorder? What types of therapies have you or they participated in? Have you found it beneficial? @Courtney_J I've done mostly behavioural therapy and social skills therapy and it's been really helpful for me. My therapist and I have worked on my social skills like reading emotional cues and interpreting social situations and then she helps me talk through my thoughts and feelings. And she's helped me to come up with ways to cope when I'm overwhelmed or overstimulated. I'm so grateful to her. If anyone hasn't tried CBT, I definitely recommend it!
