That's great that you have admitted that, which amphetamine are you addicted to? Do you want to share your story on how you became an addict?

I also have an Amphetamine addiction.... 😢😢helps with life I guess!  I started taking it for confidence when I was 17, but it soon became a habit which I stopped after a few years..... until I was about 27 (I’m now 41). It’s the only thing that stops me thinking about stuff I don’t want to face, such as my dad’s sudden death in front of me, calms my flashbacks and gives me the energy I think I need so badly. Unfortunately I am starting to see that it’s the absolute worst thing to be taking with anxiety and PTSD it’s makes my mental health a hell of a lot worse... but I can’t stop once again!! And like you I have kept this a secret since 2016... need help!! But I’m not sure if I actually want to stop, is anyone else feeling like this?? Heads gone

Hello everyone,

How are you today? Have you seen this older discussion? emoticon cute

If you haven't seen it already, we've just published an article explaining addiction - how it works and why it happens, who is susceptible, how it is treated. Feel free to give it a read here: What is addiction?

So, what is your story with substance dependence? When did you start using drugs or other substances? Why did you start? To manage stress? To cope with pain? Because others were doing it? Was it one thing that led to another? What methods have you tried to quit?

Feel free to share your story with us here!

Take care,
Courtney

Hi all,

How are you feeling today? 😉

I thought I'd revive this old discussion so that more members can share with us!

What is your story with substance dependence? Why did you start using drugs or other substances? Do you have any advice for the members trying to quit?

Feel free to share in the comments below!

Have a nice day,
Berthe

I won't say I'm addicted to codeine but I'm dependent on it. I have chronic pain from arthritis and I take tylex most days. I used to take tramadol but my doc took me off them and put me on paracetamol which did nothing for me. I had to beg him for something stronger. I'm now on lyrica also and I find that more addicting IMHO.
