Hi everyone,

How are you doing today? 😊

Often, patients with chronic diseases must follow a particular diet to avoid complications such as hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, hypertension and digestive inflammation, among others.

A change in diet may help alleviate symptoms, improve the health of a patient, or at least, minimize negative side effects caused by medication.

These days, there are many food factors to consider when planning your meals:

  • the origins (local or imported, animal or vegetable, processed foods or not),
  • labels (organic, sustainable, fair trade, etc.),
  • the list of ingredients (additives, lactose, gluten, peanuts, etc.),
  • nutritional values (Nutriscore, salt, sugar content, etc.),
  • use-by dates and expiry dates,
  • misleading statements, flattering packaging.

Did the diagnosis of your disease make you change your eating habits? Did a doctor or nutritionist coach you on what to eat and what to avoid? Do you know what is good for you or not? Are you comfortable choosing your foods and preparing your meals? How did you learn to adapt your diet? Do you allow yourself small pleasures?

I largely manage my diabetes diviculitus hiatus hernia and asthma /COPD by diet and have a list on the fridge of what I can't eat or at have to limit my intake of. It's almost impossible to avoid everything on that list but just try to be as careful

Go see your GP and see if you can go on the millionaire's drug, diabetics especially if you want to lose a few pounds. I've been on it for a week so hopefully I can report how good it is as the movie stars claim. Lazy dieting I know, you do get the option of a injection or tablets and the treatment for six months on the NHS!
