Hi everyone,

The mobility of many disabled people or people with reduced mobility is dependent on the need to be able to park as close as possible to their place of residence and/or their destination. This right to mobility is achieved through the use of a Blue Badge distributed by your local council for parking.

The schemes can be different depending on the area and the city. Blue Badge usually lets you park for free on streets with parking meters, in disabled parking bays, and on single/double yellow lines. You can also ask your local council for a disabled parking space near your home. Having a Blue Badge doesn’t let you park anywhere - you still have to follow the usual parking regulations.

Are you or a relative a person with reduced mobility ? What do you think about the accessibility of parking lots /street parking? Do you think the Blue Badge system works? What are your thoughts on this topic?

Don't hesitate to tell us in the comments below!

Have a nice day,

Well I make good use of my Blue Badge over many years but councils, hospitals even the seaside are making money off the disabled getting no concessions. Limiting areas to park with your Blue Badge is certainly challenging in City Centres or areas of interest. But a useful tool, my wife and I use to both have Blue Badges, since the council now charges for them only use my wife's and let mine lapse. Mobility scooters is becoming essential and carrying them in the car and parking in town and out of town shopping. Until they develop long distance scooters, car and Blue Badge go hand in hand!
