Hello,

I have been in Asia for eight years and knew I had osteoarthritis in my right hip but on coming back was told its now in both knees, both hips, lower back and osteophytes in my neck. I wondered as I had bad food poisoning in Asia and a year of very bad stomach issues, if the inflammation in my stomach may have contributed to the other arthritis in my joints?

I also wondered as ive terrible fatigue, exhaustion, soreness over my body, im not talking my joints, more over stomach, bladder, side of legs at night or after a long walk, if this could be osteoarthritis or something neurological...

I also, am out of employment as have a feeling of pressure building in my body for around three hours a night before it eases up. I have tried sleeping tablets, although i sleep for thirteen hours ,i feel heavy and slow, foggy when i wake up. Ibuprofen doesnt really help. Amitryptiline tablets help somewhat, the doctor thinking maybe part nerve issue.

Ive had three hip operations, the first was a new type of operation to fix my cartilage, proven to not work later, then two more to clear up shattered cartilage both hips.

I wondered as ive also social anxiety, and cannot do my degree job in environment work, what others are doing for work that is less harsh on joints?

Kind regards

Jim

Hello Jim, how are you feeling today?

Thank you for starting this discussion, and I'm really sorry to hear about all the health challenges you've been facing. I trust that you have consulted your GP and specialist to address your unique combination of symptoms and conditions, as this step is crucial for obtaining a thorough evaluation and accurate diagnosis. Regarding employment options that are less harsh on your joints, it's a good idea to discuss this with a career counselor or vocational therapist, who can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation and skills and help you explore career paths that accommodate your physical limitations and social anxiety.

Let me go ahead and tag a few members of our Osteoarthiritis community who might be able to share their experiences with you to help answer your questions a bit better:

Do you personally relate to any of the symptoms mentioned  above, and have they been a result of your osteoarthritis? What strategies or tips can you share for managing these symptoms effectively? Finally, what career choices would you suggest that are not too harsh on the joints? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Take care and have a lovely day,
