Hi, I was diagnosed with Type2 Diabetes some years back now. My blood sugars have been high too 13.2 was the highest reading. The readings have been going up and down most of the time. I have got it in check a couple of times over the years but, I fell back into the old routine of eating habits as we all do. My reading today is 4.5 and have been hovering at that point for a couple of weeks now. I too have had headaches at times. I think its the foods I was used to eating, too much of the sugary stuff, fats and drinks we are used to drinking.

Since Christmas, I have cut out all bread, butter, sugar, cakes, sweets, chocolates. I rarely have sweets or chocolate anyway. Plus I have lost 10.lbs in weight and feel better for it and, I've got my blood sugars down. And of course I do a few light exercises everyday. It took me a couple of weeks to get over cutting out out the foods. Now I am used to what I am doing.

I drink lots of water at least 8 glasses a day, sometime more and pure green tea Green tea lowers blood sugar and colesterol< and, it is also a natural laxative and good for reducing diets too. I have my porridge for breakfast made with hot water and a few blueberries, normal dinner-no fats. late afternoon I have sugar-free Jelly then no more until breakfast. Sometimes I have soup for dinner and break up a Ryvita and sprinkle it in the soup. I have water with every meal and in between meals. I still have my normal cup of tea twice a day-no sugar.I only have 2 cups of green tea a day, I drink mostly water. I check my blood sugars every other day to make sure it hasn't gone too low ( I was told by my diabetic nurse to make sure it goes no lower than 4 ) If I feel hungry I have an apple.

I know it can be hard to balance weight and diabetes. Find the right foods that suit you. Plenty of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water. Like I said, I check my blood sugars every other day or if need too everyday.

I have got 'The H20 Diet, Exercise...' on my kindle. This book is on Amazon. Even if your not on a reducing diet it tells you what foods you can have and what foods to avoid. I have found this book very useful.

I hope this is of any help to anyone

Best Wishes

Astra!
