Hi @NannasGirl1982,
Thank you so much for sharing your story, and welcome again to the community! I’m really sorry this post didn’t get seen earlier, it sounds like you’ve been through a long and uncertain wait, and I imagine that’s been both frustrating and exhausting. It’s completely understandable to want answers after nearly a year without treatment, especially when your sleep and health are being affected every day.
You’re definitely not alone here. Long delays for CPAP follow-up appointments can unfortunately happen, especially when services are understaffed or merging. I really hope things start moving for you soon, you’ve waited more than long enough.
As for your question, has anyone here had experience with alternatives to full face masks for CPAP therapy?
For example, have nasal masks or nasal pillows worked better for anyone who finds full face masks uncomfortable or claustrophobic?

If you’ve found a setup that made CPAP easier to get used to, feel free to share, your tips could make a big difference to someone just starting out.

Hi everyone, I'm TJ and I'm new here. I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea last September and I am still waiting for my appointment.
I have emailed the main doctor who is in charge of the sleep apnea clinic, but they haven't replied yet, but I was told by the receptionist in the cardio respiratory clinic at my local hospital that there is only one lady currently dealing with all of the appointments and she's based at the hospital which has merged with my local hospital.
I'm hoping that I'll get my appointment soon as it will be a year on the 30th of this month since I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea.
I diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea due to the fact at the time I did my 24hr monitor I was was sleeping in a chair, but in between that appointment and my diagnosis appointment we (I love with my fiancé, my mum and her two lil dogs) had moved and I'd told the consultant who I saw at my appointment that we'd moved since my first appointment and that I now sleep in bed.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there's an alternative to the full face mask that is usually given with the CPAP machine as I don't like them.
I didn't even have a full face mask after an operation I had back in 2022 as I woke up in recovery and I had a nasal cannula, which I prefer as I can still breathe through my nose and mouth with the nasal cannula.
