Published 3 Jan 2022 • By Candice Salomé

Adopting a healthy lifestyle is one of the keys to better health. Indeed, good daily habits help to support the immune system. A healthy diet, physical activity, rest, and sometimes supplementation with dietary supplements, all contribute to better health.

There are many natural tips for taking care of yourself in your daily life.

But what should you do in your daily routine to keep yourself fit and healthy? What is the point of food supplements and what can they do for us?

We explain it all in our article!

How to take care of your health naturally?

Taking care of yourself and your health is essential. Between industrial foods and beauty products loaded with harmful substances, pollution and sedentary lifestyle, our bodies have to cope with a lot of daily attacks. To ensure your well-being, you can take care of yourself as naturally as possible.

So how can you do it ? Follow our 5 easy tips!

Adopt a healthy and well-balanced diet!

Diet plays a predominant role in preventing diseases and reducing their symptoms, a healthy diet can also boost our immune system and nourish our brain. That is why it is absolutely essential to adopt a healthy and well-balanced diet and to avoid industrial and processed foods.

In fact, the latter contain many harmful substances, as well as added sugar and fat.

To take care of your health, it is recommended to cook at home as often as possible and try to consume fresh food from organic farming.

Opt for seasonal fruit and vegetables - which are actually often cheaper - and diversify your diet as much as possible. In fact, each food has different nutritional qualities, so it is advisable to consume several types of food, such as grains, proteins (animal or vegetable), fruit and vegetables.

A healthy and well-balanced diet constitutes a protective barrier against certain chronic conditions, such as stroke, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.

In addition, water should be your best ally because it helps eliminate toxins accumulated by our body. It is recommended to drink between 1.5 to 2 liters of water per day.

Exercise!

Regular physical activity helps maintain your physical and mental health. Exercising is strongly recommended for a long and better life. It considerably improves our quality of life.

However, not all types of physical activity have the same health benefits.

For example, running, brisk walking or hiking can effectively boost our immune system by improving the performance of the cardiovascular system. These sports also help to balance and stabilise your weight. In addition, jogging, for example, contributes to endorphin release which helps fight depression.

All sports are great for improving one's physical condition and health. It is up to you to decide which physical activity to engage in based on your preferences and physical abilities. It could be light activities like stretching, yoga, or just taking a walk around your neighbourhood. Things like gardening or doing house chores also help to stay active.

It is recommended that you exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.

Get some rest!

Good-quality sleep has a significant impact on your health. Good rest is not a waste of time, on the contrary, it allows us to be even more productive. During sleep, our brain rests and our body regenerates.

A good night's sleep has positive effects on the brain and in particular on memorisation. One of the most common consequences of not getting enough sleep is problems with memory and difficulty concentrating and learning. Thus, sleeping well promotes the development of the brain and its cognitive capacities.

Sleep also has certain beneficial effects on the skin, as it contributes to better elasticity and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Finally, many studies have shown the impact of sleep on our emotional well-being. Sleeping well increases our ability to manage emotions, reduces the risk of depression, as well as of stress and anxiety.

To sleep well, it is recommended to have an adequate bedroom temperature, which is between 16 and 18 ° C and should never exceed 19 ° C.

The blue light of our computers or phone screens delays our falling sleep because it inhibits the production of melatonin, a hormone involved in the synchronisation of the sleep / wake cycles and regulation of our biological rhythms.

Take supplements if necessary!

Even if you follow a healthy and well-balanced diet, the quality of food has deteriorated during the recent decades due to overproduction and the use of fertilisers, pesticides and preservatives.

For example, a simple orange contains much less vitamin C today than it did 50 years ago. This is also the case for many fruit and vegetables.

That is why, in order to get some help in maintaining your good health, you can try supplementing yourself. Food supplements can compensate for potential deficiencies in vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids or amino acids.

Not everyone has the same needs for minerals or vitamins. It is therefore recommended to discuss it with a doctor or a naturopath before starting to take supplements. Nevertheless, there are a number of supplements that almost anyone can benefit from:

  • Magnesium: it reduces fatigue, contributes to proper functioning of the nervous system, helps fight stress and improves sleep.
  • Fish oil: It is good for the brain, the heart, hormonal regulation and mood. Plus, fish oil is rich in vitamin D.
  • Turmeric: it has anti-inflammatory properties, protects your joints and improves digestive comfort.
  • Black seed oil: it improves skin problems such as acne or psoriasis, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Royal jelly: it is rich in vitamin B, minerals and trace elements, helps reduce physical and mental fatigue and facilitates the transport of iron in the body.
  • Guarana: it provides continuous energy throughout the day, promotes mental well-being and digestive comfort and strengthens the body's natural defenses.

And finally, don't forget to smile!

When people are satisfied with the state of their physical and mental health, it makes them happy. Positive emotions have an impact on our immune system and help improve our health, both mental and physical.

You can influence your mood and actually learn to be in a good humour. It all starts with self-esteem. It is essential to love and accept yourself as you are.

You can maximise your chances of being happy by surrounding yourself with positive and happy people because good humour is contagious! Laughter participates in maintaining our good health. It actually promotes digestion, fights insomnia, boosts our immune system and significantly improves our mood!

Thank you for a great article with lots of information and tips.

I've found it difficult to exercise this winter and due to the 'covid blues'. Everytime I think I must make the effort, I get into the same rut. I've had many ups and downs with epilepsy medication, but just started a new one today. Hope this will improve the way I've been feeling, both mentally and physically.
