Hi there, @Illawarrian,
How are you doing today?
Thank you so much for sharing your story and your concerns with us. It’s completely understandable that you’re feeling anxious with the high ESR given your history with cancer. Please know that it could be high due to many reasons, not just cancer, but it's fair to get a second opinion or seek further investigation from your your oncologist for your peace of mind. You could also discuss other imaging tests, such as CT scans or ultrasounds, if MRIs are not an option.
It's possible that some of our members might have missed this discussion, so let me tag a few who may have had similar experiences or insights:

I am in Australia. Three years ago I had a hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. It was Stage 1 endometrioid adenocarcinoma. But a few weeks before the hysterectomy I had had a D&C by a gynaecologist during which he removed two types of uterine cancer - one of them found to be clear cell. No clear cell cancer was found when I had the hysterectomy a few weeks later. The oncologist said not to worry about the clear cell cancer being found previously. It was all gone. (?) I have been given the all clear, but this week I had a FBC and my ESR was 60. The GP (I've moved to a new town) was quite shocked and said it must be a mistake. I have no infections or autoimmune diseases. The GP wasn't too worried but I'm unsure if he recalls that I told him I had had endometrial cancer. According to Dr Google there's a chance a high ESR rate is caused by occult cancer (ie cancer that hasn't been found) or metastatic cancer. I think I should return to the city where my oncologist is, and have some tests. What kind of tests would check for metastatic cancer when I have no symptoms in any particular area? I can't have MRI scans due to metal being present. Has anyone else had experience with high ESR readings related to cancer recurrence?
