I was 67 , but due to misdiagnosis by a horrible consultant, insisting it was diverticulitis, was not investigated for 7 months afterwards. He then went on leave and I was left in limbo until March the following year after my son complained nothing was being done. After this time I was diagnosed with colon cancer, but after asking many times I was not told what stage this was, but looking at the prints they gave me it looked very large to me and alll they would say was that it was a nasty one I was given another consultant who is really lovely and everything was sorted within weeks, surgery carried out, chemotherapy etc., but still undergoing tests regularly, and had a reversal op in May 2018. Unfortunately this is taking a long time to rectify everything, and I have some really bad days loo wise ! Now waiting for results of recent scans, but scared all the time nearly two and half years later. I just this week had my 70 birthday 🙁

I was 42. It took more than a year of doctors appointments, being told I was too young, too anxious, couldn’t possibly have cancer. Stage 3 diagnosed 5 years & 8 months ago.

Just had my 1st chemo yesterday I should have been having an operation this month but a recent ct scan has shown a new c on my stomach a couple more on my left lung and one of my lesions in my liver has changed in size . So chemo was the best option to contain it shrink and hopefully kill it . I am just as positive as I was last year when I got told in Jan 2019 that I had collon cancer and a secondary on my liver I've had x4 sessions of chemo and x5 ops since then and to be honest if you didn't know me you wouldn't think I was ill. My wife and boys have been fantastic and I have great mates . I hope everyone is ok take care and stay positive

Hello everyone,
So how old were you when you, or your loved one, was diagnosed with colorectal cancer? Nine out of ten cancers are generally diagnosed when patients are over 50 but unfortunately, cancer can still strike at any age.
