I was diagnosed with nsclc in Nov 18. I have never smoked and I am 51. It had spread to lymph nodes, liver, hip and sternum.

I started immunotherapy in Jan 19 and also chemotherapy. I was really sick but antisickness meds did the trick. I got carboplatin, permetrexed and pembrolizumab. After 3 treatments tumours had halved. By late 2019, only scarring in lung was left. However in Jan 20, I had tumours and swelling in my brain. Radiotherapy has reduced the swelling and tumours have decreased. I have 3 children (1 disabled) and worry about the future so would be keen to hear positive stories as my mood has been low.

My husband has small cell cancer and it is inoperable. He has had 4 cycles of chemo and immunotherapy with only hair loss as a side effect. 5 cycles of cranium radiotherapy with quite a few side effects, loss of taste and smell. And now on maintenance of immunotherapy every 3 weeks and ct scan every 3 months ( which is due in December ) with no side effects. So let’s hope the immunotherapy keeps it at bay for a long time. ( probably won’t but let’s hope) he is basically his normal self and we go on long daily walks.
