Hello everyone,
How are you today?
As we head into winter, some of us may experience a form seasonal depression or "winter blues".
What do you do to lift your spirits when you're having a tough day?

I have down days especially during the winter. I like to listen to music as it always lifts my spirits. I do like to go to church too. I try to look at the many good things in my life and there are many. I don't think you can avoid these days but changing I can't to I can can make all the difference.

I am very seldom in a bad mood. Unfortunately epilepsy medications can make us irritable as a side effect, but I usually listen to music for a calming effect, go on my laptop and catch up with emails and do voluntary editing.
This all makes the time pass quickly and I feel I am completing my goals.

For World Mental Health Day, we decided to share with you some tips on how to give yourself a little boost if you are in a bad mood! These are not methods to counteract a serious condition, such as depression or anxiety, but just little tips to improve your general mood.
Music
If you are feeling down then it is a wonderful idea to switch off with some music. Try to pick some music with positive memories, such as the soundtrack from your favourite childhood movie or the first song that you ever loved.
Compliment someone
Sometime the best way to shrug off a bad mood is to concentrate on someone other than yourself. Why not cheer yourself up by making someone else’s day? A (genuine!) compliment to a friend or family member is sure to brighten their day and yours too.
Go for a short walk
If you’re feeling down then sometimes it is great to take a short stroll. If you can’t do this, perhaps just look out you window and take a moment to breathe. This will help to take you out of your current mood and see the bigger picture.
Videos
Thankfully, the internet offers us a wealth of humorous outlets. Whether you enjoy watching cats hiding in boxes, babies trying lemon for the first time or stand-up comedy; the internet can help you. So if you are feeling annoyed or frustrated, why not take five minutes and watch a humorous compilation and realise how entertaining life can be sometimes.
Express Yourself
If the reason you are in a bad mood is because of an event, or the actions of someone, take a few moments and write it down. Get it all out of your system and then erase it. This will help purge the bad feelings out of you and put your mind back on a more positive track.
