Living with a chronic illness often means dealing with unpredictability โ€” flare-ups, fatigue, pain, and other symptoms can appear without warning. For many, this makes it difficult to commit to plans ahead of time, whether it's a social gathering, a holiday, or even a simple day out.

โœจ How do you navigate this challenge in your day-to-day life?
โœจDo you avoid making plans in advance, or do you find ways to adapt when the time comes?
โœจHow do your friends or family react when you have to cancel or change plans?
โœจHave you found any strategies that help you feel more in control of your schedule?

๐Ÿ’ฌ Your experiences could really help others in the community feel less alone โ€” donโ€™t hesitate to share!

Warmly,

Somya.P โ€“ The Carenity Team ๐Ÿ’ž

Yes because 9/10 times I end up cancelling at the last minute due to how I am feeling at the time; which is usually in pain or just absolutely knackered.

I don't make any plans in advance these days, I go with the flow and see how I am day by day. On a good day I'll meet up with friends, on a bad one I stay home, simple.

I have lost "friends" through not being reliable and their loss not mine; my true friends understand and come to me if I can't go to them. But in the same vein, I don't get many invites to things now, it used to bother me, but these days I let it ride.

@YorkshireJayne Thank you so much for sharing this. I can really relate to what you're saying. It takes strength to adapt your life around how youโ€™re feeling each day, and I admire the way youโ€™ve chosen to prioritise your well-being.

Losing people who don't understand can be painful, but as you said โ€” those who truly care will make the effort. Itโ€™s not always easy to live day by day, but your approach shows a lot of resilience and wisdom.

Sending you strength for the tough days and joy for the better ones ๐Ÿ’›
