Hello everyone, how are you doing?

Living with a chronic illness can sometimes make it difficult to maintain social connections, and for many people, it might also affect the ability to form new friendships. Between managing symptoms, doctor's appointments, and the emotional weight of the illness, there can be days when it feels like there’s less energy or time for socializing. 😔

Some people might feel self-conscious or worry about being a “burden” to new friends because of their health needs. On the other hand, many of us find that chronic illness has helped us develop deeper, more meaningful relationships with people who truly understand and support us. 💙

How about you? Do you find it harder to make new friends due to your condition? Or have you found ways to overcome this challenge and build connections despite the obstacles?

My son hasn't a single friend since this illness struck in 1999 when he played sport and had a lots of so called friends. The illness has taken away his strength and ability to last long of being awake .The chronic fatigue is the one part of it we cannot cover up it so sapping .

Social media has watered-down the word friend to the point it is, relatively, meaningless , especially with our, ever-present, endemic covid paranoia. Life, as we know it, has been changed forever.

Which poses a more direct question. What defines a true friend and how many do we actually have?
