Hello everyone!

How are you doing today? 😁

Let's talk about exercise! Do you know what NEAT is?

NEAT stands for "Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis," which refers to the energy expended by the body during all daily activities that are not deliberate exercise or sports-related. Its principle is to combat sedentary behavior and move as much as possible by incorporating daily movements that may seem insignificant, since it's not always easy to regularly engage in intense physical activity.

To practice NEAT, it is recommended, for example, to:

  • Opt for cycling instead of driving or using public transportation,
  • Stay in constant motion, choosing to stand whenever possible during waiting times instead of sitting,
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator, again, when possible,
  • Prioritize walking whenever you can.

The benefits of NEAT on health include improved cardiorespiratory capacity, increased calorie expenditure, strengthened immune system, stress reduction, metabolic regulation, decreased risks of heart diseases, and improved digestion.

Were you familiar with NEAT? What do you think about it? Do you have any examples of activities that could be associated with NEAT?

Thank you for the tips. I did not know what NEAT meant as an an abbreviation.
