Hi, as an asthmatic I thought I would have to shield for 12 weeks, but never got a letter, I contacted my Gp who told me I needed to self isolate and she gave me a 3 month line for work, it’s due to run out on the 24th, I’m not sure if I should remain off work for a little longer, I am very anxious about returning to work as I work in a care home, my asthma is a little worse at the moment, any advice would be great.
@Jinty63 the face mask isn’t to protect you, it prevents you from passing on anything unknowingly. So if you cannot wear one it doesn’t put you at any risk at all. I’ve been off now for 9 weeks and still can’t breathe properly, been on oral steroids for 6 weeks. my sick line is up tomorrow and im not keen on going back quite yet, but if I have to I won’t be wearing a mask either.

I didn't get a sheilding letter I am on steretide 125 also take Montelukast tablets. I work with Special needs children and can't distances as feeding,toileting went into work Apron ,gloves and mask and had to change clothes very scared didn't like it. My Hayfever combined with Asthma not to good and when we go back to work it's more likely face masks might have to be worn and the children are more likely to pull them of or pull them and let go outch

I have asthma which I feel isn’t very well controlled at the moment, I also suffer from panic attacks, anxiety. My son who is 3 recently got diagnosed with asthma which was very scary for me. I have currently been off work sick from 24 March as I work in a care home as an activities coordinator and my boss hasn’t been very understanding and we are required to wear a mask which I am unable to wear. I have tried and it makes me struggle to breath and my anxiety is high as I am worried about catching the cornaviris and passing it on to my son as there is a few cases in my work at the moment.
