Now that the weather is getting colder (bbrrr!) do you find that the colder weather triggers your asthma? Do you think that you get colds and flus much more easily because of your asthma?

Touch wood so far this year the cold weather hasn't effected me but in the past I would always be much worse. Usually by now I would have had at least 1 bout of bronchitis but I haven't had any problems so far  My son is the same, he rarely gets problems with asthma but is prone to bronchitis and pneumonia sometimes in the winter.

Often develop chest infections that end up on my chest.  I find it's contrasting temperatures between outside and indoors (especially public transport/shops) that play havoc with my breathing not just the extreme cold or damp.

Yes it does as I remember one year we had a really bad winter and I went through one and a half inhalers. Fortunately I had enough inhalers to see me through the winter and the holidays like I have now.

I have lost of how many inhalers I have tho and they r all still in date as I was told by the asthma nurse at my doctors to get rid of out of date inhalers as they are dangerous as they probably won't work.

@sophiesmum It triggers my asthma too and I have to use a lot of inhalers as well. The joy of asthma!

My son has just come back from Australia and the change from Air conditioning to central heating combined with coming back to a cold snap has played havoc with his asthma

I thought it was the cold air triggering chest infections/breathlessness in recent years but last year went to Slovenia in February where the air was much colder and I was fine so I'm now thinking it's more to do with the quality of the air than the temperature.  Extremes and constant changing temperatures can be tricky for me especially if I haven't fully recovered from a chest infection.
