Hello everyone!

How are you today?

Sleep problems are all too common for those of us living with mental health issues. Stress, anxiety, and fatigue can make falling asleep difficult or lead to frequent nighttime awakenings. Poor sleep quality can then worsen symptoms, creating a frustrating cycle.

Do you have specific tips or routines to improve your sleep quality? Do you use aids like medication, herbal teas, relaxation techniques, or meditation apps? Have you adjusted your sleep environment (lighting, room temperature, bedding) to get better rest?

Hello @amandeep,

Thank you for sharing this! It’s really tough when physical pain disturbs sleep so much that you’re tired all day. Sounds help shift our focus away from worries or pain, and slow and calming music can especially slow down our heart rate and breathing, which tells the body to relax.

Have you ever tried any other relaxation techniques, like deep breathing or gentle stretches before bed, to help ease the pain? Some members also find weighted blankets or specific sleep positions helpful with pain management. Let us know if you’ve tried anything else that works, and feel free to reach out anytime for support!

Take care,

Sport, sport and sport until physical exhaustion really helps regulate sleep

@gmorlet Hi! Thank you for chiming in. Staying active is a great way to improve your sleep quality, especially when it leads to that satisfying feeling of physical exhaustion. Do you find certain types of exercise or times of day are more helpful for you to get better rest?

Thanks again for sharing!

@Somya.P back in the day, swimming; it used to achieve a type of relaxedness that I couldn’t get with other sports

I wake up three times a night as my antidepressant is supposed to help me sleep but my zomorph says otherwise so one is waking me while the other is trying to help me sleep. Depression is hard to deal with when you are also suffering with PTSD
