The National Health Service will introduce a new cancer target to ensure patients are given a definitive diagnosis or the all-clear within four weeks of being referred by their GP.

To be honest I think that the system is fine as it is. I was told within 2 weeks on both occasions that I had a scare, friends have been told within 48 hours of an initial consultation and my dad was told 3 days after hospital admittance.

That's really good to hear - maybe this time they are targeting something that is working fine as it is :)
