Hello,

What can you say about your cardiologist? Are you satisfied with the treatment he/she proposes? Have you ever changed your cardiologist for any reasons?

Perhaps you know a wonderful cardiologist and are ready to recommend him/her to other Carenity members? :)

Thanks in advance for sharing your opinion!

Have a great Friday.

Margarita

I am lucky enough to have been a GP so I know a lot of Cardiologists.  All those in Leicester, my nearest city are, or rather were , highly competent and very approachable, at least for me!

I hope this discussion isn't too old to bring up, but I just went with my husband to see his cardiologist yesterday and it wasn't a good experience. I hadn't been to the last few appointments with him, but since the virus I decided to go and I was lucky they let me in with him with my mask. I found him to be incredibly cold and unapproachable and he barely took the time to talk to us and explain things. I'm hoping this was just a one-time bad day for him, or that he's stressed because of the virus. We'll see how the next appointment goes and if it's as bad as this time we'll be looking for a new one.

@cassydee Hello cassydee, thank you for reviving this discussion. I'm sorry you had such a negative experience with your husband's cardiologist. Let me tag some members who can maybe share on their experiences.

Hello all, how are you today? What has your experience been like with your cardiologist? Are you satisfied with  his or her bedside manner and proposed treatments? Have you ever had a negative experience like cassydee describes? Feel free to share here!

The stent procedure, absolutely. Subsequently, not entirely, the symptoms I first presented with I still have, and indeed presently suffering a severe attack, several rigorous tests have proved all clear, so no answer, other than the chest pain I've suffered for four years is not heart related; indigestion seems to be the answer for everything.

PS I have a stressful daily six hour commute by public bus service, a stressful job, not helped by a management team who border on bullying. In the present C-19 pandemic I was compelled to return after seven weeks isolation, one week lockdown after becoming symptomatic. I have colleagues, in other departments, automatically on twelve weeks leave. My commute exposes me to huge risks, I work as a technical support hospital engineer, itself risky

I had no adverse problems or bedside manner with my cardiologist, he was very professional at outpatients and whilst I was in hospital. The treatment I received was absolutely brilliant by all staff involved. This was the first operation I had ever had, and I was really put at ease by all the staff. God bless the NHS.

I was under a Cardiologist and my husband too. But we are both discharged. How ever my husband has an internal heart monitor inserted in his chest which sends the readings out to the Cardiology department every night around 01.00. If they detect any problems, they ring us and and either call him in or advise to see our GP. Fortunately we have had no problems

I haven't had any issues with my cardiologist, but I think bedside manner is a common issue in general with doctors, especially specialists. I guess they don't get as much social/relationship training as GPs do.

@cassydee Definitely look into finding a new doctor if yours isn't working for you. We're always entitled to a second opinion on our health. Hopefully it was just a one off with him during a stressful period, but if it continues do look for someone else.

i changed my cardiologist several years ago, because i couldnt get an appointment at my local hospital. (barnsley)

i now see consultants at Sheffield, but i was discharged because ki didnt need any treatment. i have a blocked artery and a narrowed, niether of them affect my life. i have had a blocked right coronary artery for over 30 years. the consultants and coronary staff are excellent, and they ensure that i only receive the best treatment and care
