For myself dieting at this time as my diabetes is playing up. I have gone vegetarian for the last month or so and lost over half a stone. The Wok has took a bashing with lots of stir fry as I don't like salad but has worked for me!

Hi everyone, I just joined yesterday, and if you haven't read it yet, I recently had a heart attack and I'm having a hard time recovering and adapting to my new life post-heart attack. I'm interested in learning on how to change my diet to prevent any further MIs. I've heard that red meat or meat in general can be bad for the heart, should I go towards a vegetarian diet? Or just any diet that's focused on weight loss? I know fibre is supposed to be good for cholesterol, should I be focusing on that? I haven't booked an appointment yet with a nutritionist so I thought I'd see what you all think here.

Thanks! xx

@Courtney_J I think someone already mentioned this, but my husband's cardiologist directed him towards the British Heart Foundation advice and guidelines. We pay attention to his salt intake because it can increase blood pressure, and then we try to reduce how much meat we eat in favour of more veg. At first I would also weigh and measure the proper portions of things but now I have an eye for it. It's definitely helped a bit. :)
