Hi everyone,

Living alone with a chronic respiratory condition like COPD can feel both empowering and daunting. On one hand, there’s freedom and privacy. On the other, some days are harder than others, especially when breathlessness strikes or daily tasks take more energy than usual.

  • What helps you feel safe and secure while living alone with COPD?
  • Do you have a plan in case of emergencies, or people you check in with?
  • Have you made any adjustments to your home or routine to make things easier?

I must be extremely lucky although when first diagnosed with Emphysema back in May 1999, I was very unwell and used lots of inhalers and other medication ... In september 2004 I had a bullectomy both lungs and since then have changed my life around... I use no medication nor inhalers and walk at least 5 miles a day .. the only thing that slows me down is the strong wind .. otherwise I'm just great and lots of people don't believe me when I say I have it ...
