I have been having problems with bloating and pain for over a year, previously diagnosed as due to IBS, but following a scan it appears to be gallstones- I am still having severe constipation and bloating. Is this typical? Can anyone advise me on how to deal with these issues at home?

Cut out sugar processed food also salt eat small meals frequently throughout the day chew your food properly and no talking when eating as you take in air to the tummy try deflatine tablets you suck them slowly they help get rid of wind drink plenty of water and a glass of warm water at night before bed with fresh mint leaves in try to keep a food diary of things you've eaten that cause bloating and constipation then eliminate them takes a while but worth the effort I suffer badly with IBS reflux and constipation have done for several years it's all trial and error I tend to stay clear of alcohol it really doesn't like IBS hope this helps

Thank you! I've cut out Dairy because of my Gallstones, and this has helped my bloating problems, too and I'm drinking mint tea about half the time, black tea with sugar the rest. I guess I need to change to some artificial sweetener, given what you've said about sugar & IBS. I've not been drinking coffee, but am sort of longing for a cup- is coffee also a "no no"? Also, do you tend to get migraines with your IBS symptoms? Cheers for the information.

No I don't get migraines with IBS but some foods do give you a headache, coffee is ok in small doses no milk and caffeine free I sometimes use powdered milk from time to time and I've been ok,mint tea is good but I find fresh mint in hot water better, also I've come across a tea called drainage & elimination by a company called LA TISANIERE I get them but then I live in France they have a website so maybe you could order off there, they have really helped with my bloating I swear by them, and deflatine chewable tablets are good,I don't take tablets unless there dissolvable as they really upset my IBS,also try lavender oil mixed in some baby oil and massage you stomach helps relax your colon hope the tips help, what works for one might not work for others you can only try.
