Hello there, @ColinSalter,

How are you feeling today?

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. It must be so incredibly difficult to manage both MS and the aftermath of the stroke, and I'm really sorry to hear about your disability. It's true that people with MS are more susceptible to a stroke. How have you been managing everything?

Here is a discussion that you might find helpful:

MS disability: Do you know your FS score?

I'd also like to bring attention to your story by tagging a few members of our MS community, and see if they have any words of advice for you:

If anyone here has had similar experiences or has found ways to cope with both MS and the disabilities that can come after a stroke, please feel free to share your insights.

Your experience could really help others who might be going through something similar.

Take care,

My first Multiple Sclerosis attack was in 1992 when I lost my sight in my left eye it came back after treatment at hospital but Multiple Sclerosis was not diagagnosed

In the early 2000 I started to suffer from fatigue I fell asleep during section meetings had a accident in company van when I fell asleep while driving I woke up just before I hit the car in front I stopped in company van and had a sleep for 1/2 hour

Had another accident in company van in 2011 again I woke up just before I hit the car in front did not get into trouble for it because of 100000 miles between accidents

In February 2012 I attended my doctor's because my legs were dead he sent me to a hospital where they diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis

Thank you Colin Salter

@ColinSalter it's a shame it took that long to get diagnosed 😢 did they not do an MRI when you temporarily lost your vision in your left eye? Only saying "temporarily" because I don't think you would have been allowed to drive otherwise 🤔😔

@ColinSalter that's brilliant, with you still being able to drive (apart from maybe needing regular naps) with your good R eye

@cwright17 It also allowed me to continue with my hobby motorcycle road racing at the end of August I was off to the isle man my eye sight was 6/6 in both eyes

Which I continued to do until 2004 in February 2005 I fell off while testing in Spain so spent a few days in a Spanish hospital with broken ribs so decided to retire

The fatigue continued to get worse because I used to do a lot touring on my motorbike and did long distance trails on my trial bike

In 2007 I did with my mate I went racing with went to South Africa where we bought some trail bikes used them to travel from Port Elizabeth to Durban following dirt roads and river crossings when we finished with the bikes they were given to riders for health for use in Zimbabwe

So I managed a lot fun before diagnosis

Thank you Colin Salter
