Hi everyone 💙
An itchy, flaky scalp is something many people experience from time to time.
So when scalp psoriasis first appears, it can sometimes be mistaken for ordinary dandruff or dry skin.
At first, you might notice a little flaking around the hairline or behind the ears. Maybe you try an anti-dandruff shampoo and expect it to clear up.
But then the itching continues.
The flakes may become thicker. The scalp can feel sore or irritated, and patches may extend beyond the hairline. For some people, scratching or removing scales can also lead to bleeding or temporary hair shedding.
Scalp psoriasis can be particularly frustrating because the hair makes the affected skin harder to see and can make creams or treatments more difficult to apply.
Recent research has continued to look at real-world treatments for mild-to-moderate scalp psoriasis, while current health coverage is also highlighting how easily scalp psoriasis can initially be confused with dandruff or other scalp conditions.
And beyond the physical symptoms, there can be an emotional side.
Visible flakes on dark clothing, worrying that other people think your scalp is dirty, avoiding the hairdresser, or feeling uncomfortable wearing certain hairstyles can affect confidence more than people realise.

Scalp psoriasis can look very different from one person to another, and what works for one person may not work for someone else.
How long did it take you to realise that your “dandruff” might actually be psoriasis, and what finally helped you get it under control?
With care,
Razar from the Carenity team💖
