Just had a call from my GP. Rather worried about my HbA1c of 39, reckons I must be having nocturnal hypo's???
My Humulin I, I take 43 units at breakfast and 51 units at suppertime, I have been doing this for about two years now.
My Nova Rapid, I take my readings and depending on what they are determines how much Nova Rapid I administer. Anything from Nil to 24 units (4 times a day). For the last few weeks my numbers have been between 3.3 and 12.1(party night) as a rule they are between 5 and 7, so I don't see a problem??
Can anyone see where I may be going wrong??? Please help?????

Hi Richard,  Wish my HBA1C was 39 👏.  You don't say if you are Type 1 or Type 2 ?

I can't find your original post but I had a really frightening experience at the weekend. According to the Dr's I have been controlling my diabetes too well and no longer need insulin. The problem was that I had taken my insulin as normal, not knowing this, and on Saturday night I collapsed in the street with a diabetic hypo. My 7 year old granddaughter was with me and she was amazing, flagging down a car for help, getting her dressing gown to cover me over in case I was cold, telling passerby how to contact her mum and telling the paramedics exactly what had happened, a better account I gather than many adults.

I have been having night sweats for a while and the Dr thinks this was due to night time hypos. The Dr's has taken me off insulin for now and see how it goes.

Hello  my friend. Sorry I am a  Type Two diabetic. When I first started on NovaRapid, (Fast acting) quite a few years ago now , my HbA1c was 85 then gradually over the years my dependence on insulin has diminished to virtually nothing. I still take my Humilin I, back ground insulin twice a day 41 units at breakfast and 51 units at bedtime, but the NovaRapid is down to maybe two or three times a week I might take a total of 20 units? So maybe my days on NovaRapid are numbered??? Oh Goodie!!!!!!!!!

Catch you soon. Cheers Richard.emoticon dog

I hope you are as well as you can be???

Night time hypos could be rather frightening??? If your blood/glucose drops triggering a 'night hypo'. How do you recover if no glucose is administered?? Do you miraculously draw on some hidden reserves??Otherwise could you not go into a diabetic coma?? I must do some extensive research and find out.

Must chat soon?

Catch you soon Pal. Cheers Richard

Hi Richard0408,  Are you a good Diabetic and stick to your diet?   I tend to "give in" at times!!!  And suffer the consequences later.  I am on Humulin 3 Insulin and take 10 units in the morning and 26 units in the evening, plus 2000mg Metformin and 5mg Dapagliflozin daily.  Have been on Insulin just over 5 years now and only recently changed over to the Humulin 3 a couple of months ago. Have been Type 2 for 20 years now.
