Hi Guys;        My NHS employer asking me to produce/submit a letter from the government or GP  that I’m on a high risk group therefore need self isolating. Inspite all those list included my DIABETES TYPE2 and Asthma. It’s my choice to self isolate due to my underlying ill health. Why do I have to explain my condition to them. It’s a general knowledge at work about my Asthma and my Diabetes. Can you advise me what to do and on government website this will be a 12 weeks isolation. Thank you. Cynthia R.

@cprafter Hello Cynthia, thank you for starting this discussion. How are you doing? Have you been able to get a letter from your GP? Let me tag some members who may be able to give you some advise.

Hello members, I hope you don't mind that I've tagged you. I hope you're all doing well despite these difficult circumstances. Have you all received a letter from the NHS or have you had to provide one for your employer? How should Cynthia proceed?

I must be lucky as my GP when I emailed him confirmed that I'm high risk and recommended self isolation. He also wrote a letter for me to send into work. Just found out today that I am being furloughed too.

I work in a residential home for the elderly so unable to work from home.

I am type 2 insulin dependent ( not well controlled at the moment but working on it ). BMI 37 and recently had abnormal liver enzyme readings following hyperpyrexia .

I work in residential, my doctor has signed me off for 12 weeks but my manager has told me I am not high risk, even though my doctor stated on my last fit for work note that I am high risk. Type 2 diabetic and hypertension.

My manager is now referring me to HR and OT. Even though I have been signed off by my GP. It is all a bit worrying.

Hi, I am type 2 and a teaching assistant at a small village primary school. Our school closed and our children who needed to attend the school in the next town.  I asked not to be put on the rota as I have diabetes... originally they said type 2 didn't count but I screenshot and sent the relevant information so they sent me work to do at home! The school has only been having 8 children attend and 3 are from our school.  Last week I received an email saying our school is reopening for our most vulnerable children on Monday 11th and I am on the rota! I have said I still have diabetes and are we following government advice. I was told they have to get me back into work. They suggested I sit in the office and make welfare calls and I have said I can do those from home. Eventually they agreed to me doing 2 week welfare calls from home, then it's half term and then I am in the classroom unless I get something from my GP??? Any advice?
