My son was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when he was 9yrs old. At the age of 14 he had surgery and had an Ileostomy but after 6months was able to have it reversed again. Since then and right up until now he can get flare-ups which can be quite bad but he tries to cope as best as he can as he's now a married man with a family and like everyone else he's to pay bills and a mortgage. He was wanting to know if he had any cause to worry about this COVID-19. He would be very grateful if anyone could give him any advice.

Hi @margaretkilpatrick‍, if he hasn't already, I'd recommend that he read the FAQ page published by Crohn's and Colitis UK, it's is very detailed, particularly related to medications and what to do if you have symptoms. They also have a very handy decision tree that can help you make decisions about what to do. Did he get word from the NHS putting him in the at-risk or vulnerable category? I think in general we're at a higher risk mid-flare and then also depending on which medications we're on. That can very from person to person.

Sorry if this wasn't very clear! I hope you and your son are doing well! xx

Oh I also should have said that my team told me to avoid going to hospital even though I have a few tests pending and that they'd call me with the results. All my appointments have been rescheduled or have been put online so hopefully it's the same for your son.
