My mom was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with breast cancer.  Her HER2 came back negative last week.  Now shes on a drug to try and shrink the tumour to less than 2cm and then take it out and then radiotherapy for a few weeks after.  She refused a mastectomy and would is happy so far.  I know chemo has awful effects on hair loss etc but does that happen with radiotherapy for 5 weeks and 5 days a week.  I would welcome any help on this

@Ladypink51 Hello Ladypink51, thank you for your comment. I'm sorry you and your mother are in this situation. How are things going?

Take care,

Michael

Hi Michael

We are ok.  Moms openly talking about her treatment and is very positive.  Unfortunately, I am now myself going for spinal surgery on Wednesday but this again seems to be taking mom off her own worries.

I cnt find anywhere about hair loss with radiotherapy just chemo and just wanted to find out what others had found.

Many thanks for your reply

Simone

@Ladypink51 Hello Ladypink51, I'm glad to hear you both are coping, and am wishing you all the best for your surgery. Please let us know how you are doing afterwards when you are up and about again.

Here is a previous discussion on radiotherapy, hoping it can provide you with some answers:

How to deal with radiography?

If not, feel free to start a new discussion on the topic, I'm sure there are others who can share their experiences and support.

Take care,

Michael
