it's a case of trail and error I'm afraid as people are different some hot some cold as cold helps my inflammation on my knee but warmth is better on my finger joints hunni x

inflammation = flame = heat = cold to reduce!

I find a nice hot bath helpful for general aches and stiffness but ---
I have both osteo and rheumatoid,
This may well be psychological as much as physical (but if it works don't knock it).
The problem is getting in and out of the bath!

Yes I had same problems with bath but I find putting electric blanket on helps my back and hips

I find that holding my hands/feet under a hot running tap/in a bowl of hot water is helpful (I’d love to be able to hold my feet under a tap!)
I haven’t found any joints that respond to cold yet but I only got my diagnosis in September so I’m on a learning curve.

You can buy cold or freeze sprays which helps

Hi I was diagnosed with RA 25yrs ago and I use a Rock Salt Therapy stone it can be placed in the fridge for cold therapy which includes inflammation, stone can also be placed in oven or microwave for a warming therapy etc joint and muscle pain. I take no other type of medication.

has any of you tried applying hot compresses or alternate hot/cold showers? They say it helps reduce pain and stiffness..
what exactly should I do and how often?
