Hi everyone π
Going to the dentist may feel routine, but when you live with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), even a simple dental procedure can sometimes raise extra questions.
You may wonder whether your dentist needs to know your latest platelet count, whether you should speak with your haematologist first, or what precautions might be needed before procedures that could cause bleeding.
For some people, this becomes just another part of managing ITP. For others, dental treatment can bring a bit of anxiety, especially when platelet levels are low or unpredictable.
Do you always tell your dentist that you have ITP, and has it ever changed the way your dental treatment was planned?
Have you ever needed to check your platelet count or speak with your haematology team before a dental procedure?

If you feel comfortable, share your experiences or questions with the community. Hearing how others prepare for dental appointments may be reassuring and useful for someone facing the same situation. π
