I take 15mg to get me off to sleep. Often wake at silly o'clock & next morning I find my mouth is so dry that my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth & insides of my cheeks stick to my teeth, makes talking difficult . Chewing gum helps resalavate my mouth.

I despair. This medication has no affect on me  at all. It’s useless to me. Didn’t help at all. Was started on 10mg = hopeless. Then 20mg= still no affect. Then 30mg= nothing 40mg= nothing then finally 50mg & was told that was the highest dose they would allow. Absolutely no affect whatsoever. Was prescribed it as a little helper to my other medication  to ease pain & help me sleep. It did neither. 👎

I take Amitriptolene to help me get off to sleep. A side affect is a really dry mouth the morning after. To avoid my tongue sticking to the roof of my mouth I have a piece of chewing gum after breakfast.

Mine was increased to 50mg at bedtime. I get a much better sleep and my pain during the day now has reduced! Yes I get bad dry mouth but well worth it to have a good sleep. Before taking Amitriptyline I would weaken 5-10 times a night!

Since diagnosed in 2007 I was immediately put on 1x 25mg tablet a night.. Even after all these years I know if I forget then am wide awake through the night till I realise hadn't taken it. So yes I do fall asleep with it but not stay asleep.. But we'll take any bit that helps and this does.

Doesn’t work for me started at 10mg & after talking to specialist Rheumatology nurse she advised l could go up 10mg weekly till l was taking 50mg a week. Still no difference in presumed pain relief & still no effect in helping with sleep. At next appointment l shall tell her l am no longer willing to take something that does nothing to help me. A complete waste of time for me personally.

This medication does not work for me at all when prescribed at 10mg.          So after letting hospital know there’s no marked difference in my sleep pattern or it’s evidence of dulling pain due to my arthritis they prescribed 20mg. Still no effect. I think this dosage is useless so will inform health professionals l don’t want it at such a minuscule dose. I took it for several months & noticed no change whatsoever.

As l was only prescribed 10 mg yet again it has been no use whatsoever in helping me sleep & no noticeable asset to easing pain. Been prescribed this on numerous occasions  & in my opinion it’s rubbish.

I take three of these three hours before I go to bed. I have terrible problems getting to sleep because of the pain i am in and the doctor thought these would help. They certainly help me get off to sleep but about an hour and a half later I'm awake again.
