Medication indications

Sertraline 100 mg Film-coated Tablets

Sertraline is indicated for the treatment of:

Major depressive episodes. Prevention of recurrence of major depressive episodes.

Panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults and paediatric patients aged 6-17 years.

Social anxiety disorder.

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Sertraline 100 mg Tablets

Sertraline Tablets is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of depressive illness, including accompanying symptoms of anxiety. Following satisfactory response, continuation with Sertraline Tablets therapy is effective in preventing relapse of the initial episode of depression or recurrence of further depressive episodes, including accompanying symptoms of anxiety.

Sertraline Tablets is also indicated for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Following initial response, Sertraline Tablets has been associated with sustained efficacy, safety and tolerability in up to two years treatment of OCD.

Sertraline Tablets is also indicated for the treatment of paediatric patients with OCD.

Clinical trials in PTSD demonstrated efficacy in female patients but no evidence of efficacy was seen in males. Treatment with Sertraline Tablets cannot normally therefore be recommended for male patients with PTSD. A therapeutic trial in males might on occasion be justified, but treatment should subsequently be withdrawn unless there is clear evidence of therapeutic benefit.

Sertraline Tablets is not indicated for use in children and adolescents under the age of 18 years with Major Depressive Disorder.

In particular, controlled clinical studies failed to demonstrate efficacy and do not support the use of Sertraline Tablets in the treatment of children and adolescents with Major Depressive Disorder (See sections 4.3, Contra-Indications and 4.8, Undesirable effects).

I am on 150mg daily for the rest of my life, but trust me when I say I would probably be dead without the help of Sertraline and my therapist convincing me to take them as I was dead against meds having spent 30 years been misdiagnosed with many meds including chlorpromazine for over 8 years in my long history. :) Happy New Year Guys and Girls

Hi all, I'm on 150mg of Sertraline too, and it works sometimes, I still have really bad day's, but at least I'm not trying to end my life now, and I'm glad that that part is hopefully behind me now, I just take one day at a time, and learnt who my true friends were during my worst time,

Happy New Year to all at carenity x

Seems to do the job. Mood swings are far less frequent and much less severe

Agree these tablets are more for Mood swings and nothing to do with depression in a lovely way as this is a free choice we fight and die for. Depression is a free choice. :) When we die what is the last thing we all want people not to be. Sad..:) Respect it xx

My antidepressants are doing their job, but my depression is worse due to my dad passing away over two weeks ago.

I am on 200mg now due to the socitey we fight for are not interested in the free things in life, apparently that's complicated..All I know is for me and many others they work. So for me either some people are playing the game or on the wrong meds?

I tapered off my Venlafaxine over 5 months, because I thought that i didn't need them(Yeah...I know!) I eventually went back, but my new surgery suggested Sertraline, so I agreed. 50mg for 2 weeks, then 100mg...I felt much better, but my sleep has gone to sh*t! Anyone else suffer with insomnia problems?

I was supposed to have had a telephone appointment with a lady from my local cCBT team either last month or the month before, but she never rang.

She texts me saying that she's sorry she missed my appointment as her last appointment ran on longer than she expected it to.

She also said that she had rearranged my appointment for later the same month, but she didn't contact me then either.

I have (unsuccessfully)tried contacting her, but to no avail.

Heard nothing since, so I don't know what to do now.

I'm just glad that I have my meds.

Sertraline keeps me stable though I have 'blips' as I call them from time to time. I know my triggers and it's keeping them at bay that proves problematic.

Took myself off 200mg which I took alongside lithium. Worked for the first year or so. Was stuck on them for years. Discharged from mental health services but no GP (or CPN when I accessed back into the MH system) had the authority to withdraw my meds. Eventually, just stopped taking them. Useless.

I've got a telephone appointment with a doctor on the 10th of this month just to see how I'm getting on with them as the first doctor, which is the one who upped my dosage only did my repeat prescription for my tablets for two months and didn't tell me that he'd only put them up for two months as I usually have a prescription for new tablets and medication for three months and then I would need an appointment with a doctor just to see how I'm doing on them.

They are ok to take, but I think that the dosage is too low for me as it doesn't matter if I take them or not I  still snap at my fiance.

I'm due a medication review with my gp for my tablets, so I m going to mention it the doctor at my medication review.

I have been on the 50mg dose of these tablets for a while now. The dosage was fine for the first few months, but I keep forgetting to take them as I don't think that the dosage is high enough for me.
