Hi everyone, how are you doing today?
There’s some big news in HIV prevention: the FDA has just approved injectable lenacapavir as a long-acting option to help prevent HIV. It only needs to be taken twice a year and has shown promising results in large international trials.
While this might seem like a message aimed at people who don’t live with HIV, it can still bring up a lot of thoughts and emotions for those of us who do. Many of us know firsthand how powerful and life-changing prevention can be, especially if we think about our younger selves, our children, our partners, or people in our communities who may be at risk.
Lenacapavir might help remove some of the biggest barriers to prevention: the burden of taking a pill every day, fear of stigma, or even just access to regular care.
💬 How do you feel when you see new prevention tools like this being approved?
🗨️ Have you ever wished something like this existed earlier in your journey?
📌 Do you feel like the conversation around prevention includes people already living with HIV? If not, what would you like to hear more of?
