Don't quote me on this but I think it's because of the imbalance in your hip . I get in both my knees as I'm putting weight on them to either walk up the stairs or get up of the chair or floor. I have osteoarthritis in my left hip and it's shorter than the other leg. I can't put my socks on or tie my shoes so I leave them tied. I'm getting my hip replacement after 4 yrs of pain but I've kept up with exercise even when it's been hard. I hope you get sorted soon .take care .
