Yeah I'm 45 and have just had both knees replaced. My spine is fusing and hips are agony and my hands hurt all the time.... it's such a debilitating condition. Hope everyone is coping with the changeable weather.
Gentle hugs everyone xx

Hi the pain I have is in both thumbs which I have had for long time but as I get older they seem to be getting worse especially opening things etc., Strong painkillers don't even work so what do you do!

If the pain is in the base of the thumb (the trapezium bone) there is a procedure to reduce or remove that joint. I have had the trapezium removed in both my thumbs and it had made a huge difference. I can open jars and do most things I couldn't do due to the pain. I will be honest and say it takes a lot of physiotherapy after surgery which is hard work but very much worth it.

I have had my trapezium bone removed on right hand and it has eased pain although I have off days when it is sore. I'm actually going into hospital tomorrow for the other hand to be done, hopefully life will be easier.

It's a bit depressing reading these comments! I don't mean that in a horrible way either. I was diagnosed with osteopinea and mild arthritis a year ago. My thumbs are the worse meaning it hurts to grip anything making daily tasks like cooking or writing painful. I've just been told the pain in my knee is cartilage wear. The trapezium bone operation sounds hopeful. My symptoms are getting worse rapidly and I do worry about the future. My younger sister is crippled with arthritis and is waiting for a knee operation. Hope it works for ninja53

Hi All, I have it in my hands, feet, shoulders, back, knees, neck, elbows, and wrist, so understand what you are all going through. I also have Rheumatoid arthritis to make things worse and Fibromyalgia, so am in constant pain night and day.

I had the trapezium operation on both thumbs, one worked really well but the other one is rubbish, and a new operation iis being planned for that one. Had a completely new knee implant, which has not worked, also a complete hip implant which worked quite well' unfortunately the other knee and hip are on there way out. What I really need to know is has anyone found socks, that don't squeeze swollen ankles too tight, but do keep your feet warm.
