GLP-1 and related medications such as Wegovy and Mounjaro are being talked about a lot at the moment, especially for weight management.

Some people may already be using them, while others may be considering them or wondering what the experience is really like.

Have you ever used a GLP-1 or similar medication for weight management? What was your experience like?

Yes I have been using this medicine in tablet form as I would not self inject. No issues have been experience and lost over 2 stone so quite happy with the result. As a diabetic, to which was the original use of this medicine. I am well controlling my blood sugars as it has returned to levels long term to my pre diabetic levels!

I'm lucky I'm not obese but I know my doctor would not approve the usage of these if I asked or spoke to him about it. I have a friend who injected herself for many months, lost lots of weight but got so ill in the process she had to stop. She's not been well since and has regretted being on them.

@Razar.M She was buying it online and the weight loss was good until she became ill. She's now unable to work a full week due to ill health, and unfortunately got other health issues from taking it.

I've been seeing so much about Mounjaro and Wegovy lately, especially on social media. It sometimes feels as though everyone's talking about the weight loss results, but there's much less conversation about what taking these medications actually involves.

What interests me most is the longer-term picture. How do people manage side effects, and what happens when they reach their target weight? I also think the emotional side deserves more attention, particularly for people who've struggled with their weight for years.

I'm glad there are more treatment options available, but I do worry about the pressure social media creates to lose weight quickly. These are proper medications, not just another wellness trend, and I think people deserve balanced information about both the benefits and the risks.

There's nothing wrong with needing medical support for weight management, just as there's nothing wrong with deciding a particular treatment isn't right for you. 💙
