I took part in a trial for my diabetes some years ago testing garlic tablets effects. Lots of blood tests and regular visits to hospital several times a week for a month or so. I hate needles, despite being a diabetic which is a good reason not to volunteer again.
I would consider another trial as long as they are not taking blood every two minutes!

Hi @BigHOUSE
To find out about the ongoing clinilal trials, please click here: https://www.ukctg.nihr.ac.uk/
This website shows a list of all the current clinical trials in the UK, and I think you can search them by condition.
Good luck!

Hi, I have psoriasis,
dont know if this the place to be on new things iv tried but keep me right if not ... iv tried all the topical treatment with Little effect and I tried manuka honey whilst this hasn’t cleared it up completely it’s help stem it and helped the flaky skin and I’m going for another bout of uv light which did clear it up completely but it’s came back.... anyway il keep with the manuka honey and see if this helps it stay away and let you know if it works, know it’s not cheap but il try anything to get rid of this affliction 🙈

Had regular 3 monthly steroid injections in knees before the replacements some years ago some worked better than others but wouldn’t have been able to continue working without them.Since I’ve had quite a number in my ankles under camera, some worked some didn’t. Now my shoulder rota cuff has been giving real problems and I’ve had two this year and found both really useful for 2/3 months . They do have weight gain problems for me but they don’t make me feel sleepy like tablets do. However they are not ideal and not a long term solution.

Thank you for the link giving details to check on clinical trials available.
I've never done any, but would be interested in participating in one.
Good luck to all those involved at the moment; stay positive!

Hi this is a follow up comment from trying manuka honey... since taking the honey there has been a marked improvement in my psoriasis, I have no flaking and although I’m using it with the enstilar just now it hasn’t returned to the areas I used the enstilar on and stopped once clear... I take one teaspoon in the morning and one at night before bed, no more scratching or bleeding.... hope this information helps someone else👍

Hello everyone,
Following the publication of our new article (What is a clinical trial?) I thought I'd revive this discussion!
Clinical trials aim to improve the care and treatment of patients at all stages of their health condition.
What about you? Have you ever participated in a clinical trial? What were your motivations?
If not, would you be interested in doing so? Why or why not?
Feel free to discuss in the comments here!
Take care,
Courtney

@Courtney_J I've never participated in one. I know how important they are, though. All the new treatments they've come out with like the COVID vaccine or even the biotherapies that have come out in recent years for RA and other conditions are really helping to make strides in patient care. That being said, I'm not sure that I'd want to be the guinea pig for some of these things, I'm not a risk taker so I guess I'd be afraid of getting the placebo or of having a bad reaction. Kudos to those who volunteer for them though!

Dear members,
As you know, clinical trials are an important step in the development of new treatments, or in the improvement of the existing ones.
I think that some of you have already participated in clinical trials, and can share your experience:
- what type of clinical trial was it and for what condition?
- what medication/treatment was it for?
- what were the conditions to enter the clinical trial?
- how long did it last and what were you supposed to do?
- what were the results?
If you have never entered a clinical trial, would you be willing to do it? If not, why not?
For those who are interested in the current clinical trials and/or would like to take part in one, here is the link to the clinical trials website in the UK: https://www.ukctg.nihr.ac.uk/
