I suffer from tinnitus , thyroid problems now migraines have reared their ugly heads so now on tablets for those , so annoying !
Neville
I have had tinnitus for years which I think was brought on by working on heavy machinery. Agricultural equipment for 20 years and motor cars before that. It gets worse whenever I am overtired and or stressed.
Approximately 30 years ago my G.P. arranged for me to see a specialist and a full test was done. I was offered a small device (like an old fashioned hearing aid) which produces 'white sound' to block out the tinnitus. I thanked the specialist for his time but declined his offer because I could not see the point in replacing one annoying sound with another.
In every day life my brain does actually ignore the sound and I am only aware of it when someone mentions the subject so thanks for that Lizzi xxx

Yes have Tinnitus for about 15 years.
It is annoying and very tiring.
At least 8 hours sleep helps...it is much louder when short of sleep. Other than that it's just distracting oneself as much as possible. As I already have hearing loss it makes hearing more difficult.

I suffer tinnitus from being near loud music. I am currently awaiting to see an audiologist as my hearing loss is mild. I saw my GP and had a test in Boots just as a second opinion. I am dreading the proper diagnosis from the audiologist

@Tigger.co.uk Hello Tigger, how are you?
I'm really sorry to hear that, but please don't give up on trying to find help for your hearing. 😟 You and your health issues definitely matter, and you deserve attentive care and support. Have you considered reaching out to your GP directly instead of going through the hospital, or maybe contacting a local patient advocacy group that could help? There could also be ways to make appointments online via email or your hospital/doctor's patient portals if your healthcare provider offers them. I know it can be frustrating, but please don't give up on improving your quality of life.

That is really tough, I am quite deaf and constant Tinnitus. I only have one aid and am on waiting list for second but 80 week waiting list. It is so exhausting trying to hear people. I avoid social occasions.

Hello everyone,
How are you doing today?
Tinnitus is the perception of sound that does not have an external source, so other people cannot hear it. It is commonly described as a ringing sound, but some people hear other types of sounds, such as roaring or buzzing.
Tinnitus can be caused by: noise exposure, hearing loss, some medications, head or neck injury, or chronic illnesses such as diabetes, migraines, thyroid disorders, and certain autoimmune disorders such as lupus and multiple sclerosis.
Have you experienced Tinnitus? Does it happen frequently? How do you cope with it?
Let's share!
Take care,
Lizzi from the Carenity team
