@Courtney_J My husband and I usually take a week or two of summer holiday somewhere warm like Portugal or Spain, but with my UC I'm very cautious in the sun. On the beach I tend to wear a long-sleeved bathing top and a big hat. And always SPF 50 minimum. Some of the medications I take can make me photosensitive so I'm very careful.

Post cancer treatment I am no longer allowed the delight of sunshine getting my vitamin D in tablet form. A bonus in this Covid-19 crisis, my wife also takes vitamin D but is allowed to enjoy the delights of sunshine. So always fully covered in the sun and large hat as the skin on my neck bubbles up in blisters so easily. A sad side effect of treatment, 200 years of sunshine in 6 weeks that will haunt me for the rest of my life. But looking at the bright side of life, I am alive!

Heat affects my seizures, so I tend to stay out of the sun although there isn't much here in Northern Ireland!
I was put on Adcal D-3 (Vitamin D/Calcium) but due to having to chew the tablets, I stopped the medication. My doctor told me as long as I'm getting enough in my diet is what counts. When living in South Africa we had too much sun and I would not be able to take a holiday in Spain or any other hot country any longer.
The mountains are for me!

Hi I live permanently in Spain I do take care away from the heat and sun. Cannot go out after 11.00am till around 7.00pm in the evening. So now we have temp. around 30 plus degrees, I now feel that I am in another summer lockdown. If I am not careful I get a terrible pressure in my head and feel faint. Even if I drink lots of fluids, I do have dark skin pigments on my face so wear high factor and always a hat. have to say if I did have a place to stay during June, July and August in the UK would do so. One bonus is I am right bye the sea and yes I am alive.
Look forward to the winter months which I do love here in Spain.

@salsamania Ooh I'm jealous, that must be heaven!
I have very fair skin so I try to stay out of the sun as well. I always wear a big hat when we go to the seaside and at least factor 50 sun cream and I reapply every hour and a half or so. I had heard that the sun is strongest between noon and 2 so I try to stay in the shade or indoors at those times. I'm very conscious and worried about skin cancer since I have some family who have had it so I really take care.

Although I like the warmer weather as I suffer from Raynauds, I can't sit in it for long even with a good sunscreen on. Around half an hour and I have to move around. We used to go abroad to Portugal a lot, but would go in January when although it was warm. it wasn't too hot to sit in the sun.

I play a lot of golf. I always wear sunscreen if I think I’m going to be in short sleeves. I also always wear a cap and my glasses are reactive to sunlight.
