I woke up having had an epileptic fit in my sleep. When I awoke I was in no fit state for many a day to be able to remember anything that had happened and I wanted to get up. However I was made to stay in bed until a doctor arrived. I remember nothing about what happened, or about the next six or so months. I had to stop work. Despite being on epilepsy pills, I had another fit two months later, medication changed, and I have had no more fits that I know of, and I am sure that my wife would have told me. I was able to return to work but in a safer environment. My doctors have changed my meds several times over the last fifty years as medicine has progressed.

I was diagnosed so long ago and things were so different then that this doesn't really work. There were no computers & I had to ask my mum to get me a book to find out about MS! Now, people know about MS and, if you don't, you can go onto the computer and find answers to most of the questions you probably have. I was in hospital for a couple of weeks with no answers and I wanted info more than anything!

I knew ms was lifechanging. I just shrugged it off and thought it’s not going to get me. 10 years on it has. I’m sorry for myself never doing what i planned to do and now it’s too late. 🥲

The moment of diagnosis can be life-changing. Whether it brought relief, fear, confusion or all three — most of us wish we could go back and say something to our past selves.
💬 What would you tell yourself back then?
💬 Feel free to write a short message to your “diagnosis-day self” — it might be just what someone else here needs to hear today.
Warmly,
Somya.P – The Carenity Team 💞
