I have osteoarthritis in the bottom of my spine and I have tried many pain killer's including Zapain and Tramadol nothing seems to touch the bone pain and I have tried the Tens machine which also has no effect.  I am unable to walk far and standing even for a few minutes is awful.  I have had injection in bottom of my spine and they did help for a while but now I they have stopped working so I can't have anymore.  I have been told I could could have rod's put in and that would help but the accute pain clinic don't want me to have them yet.  I wondered if anyone has any had this problem and what works for them.

Hello Bren21

I do know how you feel. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with the same problem. I have 2 prolapsed discs and Arthritis in my spine in most parts. Evan sitting can be painful. I get sad when i cant play with my partners Grandchildren, cant hold the baby as well as all the other everyday normal thinks that you want to do. So what i decided to do was move a little. Wash the pots, sit down a while, dry them sit a while, then put them away. Blessed with a very lovely partner he hoovers does the bedding and all the other jobs i cant do. This is my was of trying to be "normal". There are lots of little jobs also i can do. Unfortunatly i suffer with COPD and Fibromyalgia. Fighting a loosing battle springs to mind, but being a positive person i try to be as happy as possible.

With a heavy heart i decided to buy a mobility scooter. What a life saver it has been!!! Last week i had the strength to go shopping and visit my mum all in one trip out! Partner doing all the lugging of course.

I do hope you find your way to cope with this horrible illness. All the best to you.

Merry.

Chiropractic treatment can help you alleviate the pain and stiffness caused by spinal column.

i have had it the full length of my spine for over 20 years stating in my neck, they said about a rod being put in but decided it had crumbled to much and i would still get pain so wouldnt do it, i was put on pregabilin which worked for a couple of years but i still got some pain but i could manage but i put on over 2 st in weight , at the beginning of the year i came of them and i have lost the weight ,my doc put me on neafropam., wrong spelling they worked smashing, in the summer i was able to reorganise my back garden, only doinf half a hour and having a rest then going out again i felt lovely could walk without walker or my pair of crutches, then i fell had to be put on morphine for 3 weeks and had to stop taking my pain killers when i came off the morphine my doc called you cant have tramadol and your neafropam its to expensive but didnt give me anything else so went to surgery saw another doc and she said they had been stopped by whoever as they hadnt proved they worked, i said what ,i have had the best summer for donkey years, well sorry we cant give you them, so i said well i am on no tabs now and in absolute agony can i try gabapentin so she said yes, i have had them 2 weeks ,it cuts the pain a bit but not like the other tabs,

i am under the pain clinic and am waiting to go and have injections in the spine, i did have some a few year ago didnt last long but she said this is different ,while there i am going to ask her about nefropam as i have had 2 different answers, if they can supply them i am willing to pay for them, as i am 73 i dont pay but for the relief i am willing to pay anything.

I have it in my neck which was made worse by a whiplash accident last year ,I am limited to what painkillers I am allowed due to heart problems.

I found osteopathy a great help, and also found drinking plenty of water helps, your body needs to be hydrated,I will never be free of it but it is easier, try it it might help.
