I've been thinking about this since I had my first jab 3 weeks ago.emoticon pillemoticon clock

emoticon yin-yangI see many advantages in continuing to wear a face mask ~LESS pollution, less bugs leading to chest and other infections, lowering the risk of any other nasties getting in my system and finally not having to smell other peoples bad hygiene.

The disadvantages ~ facial expressions can't be seen (although this also has its positives), can't can't smell candles, new perfume etc. Saying that though it it's not compulsory this isn't really a major problem.

Hello @KPangela‍, thank you for opening this discussion! I've moved it to our COVID-19 group for more visibility. emoticon cute

What do you all think? Will you continue to wear your mask after you've gotten both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine? Will you wear one when you're sick, for example? Or will you say goodbye to them forever once things are "back to normal"?
@lesmal‍ @nineteen_gale‍ @robjmckinney‍ @richard0804‍ @Tigger.co.uk‍ @MadPanda‍ @Christine‍ @Laura1989‍ @wednesday‍ @mr chipps‍ @LindaBlacker‍ @Katieoxo22‍ @Mrs E Larkin‍ @lar123‍ @mumstheword‍ @Neil1964‍

Feel free to discuss here!

Take care,
Courtney

I think we will be wearing masks for a good while yet, I am more than happy to even when I am fully vaccinated. This winter has seen less flu and common colds so it makes sense.

yes. we will continue to wear mask even after the 2nd dose of vaccine. The reason being is, that there are many who are anti vacciners, and think that the virus is fake and that there are nano particles, mercury etc in the vaccine. So it would be those people who would continue to spread the virus. Even if you have had your 2 doses, it does not guarantee that you will not catch the virus, and you will not get very sick. So we will not let our guards down straight away, but will continue following the rules with caution.

I go for my 1st vaccination in mid-March, and even after my 2nd vaccination, will continue to wash hands, social distance, wear my mask when travelling on main bus transport, supermarket shopping etc. I will continue to wear my Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Lanyard and card in the event of a seizure and an emergency.

As @nineteen_gale‍ has said having the vaccination, does not guarantee you will not catch the virus from someone who is spreading the virus. I would rather stick to the rules, together with using my own logic and common sense to remain safe and healthy!

Interesting point as we isolate and rarely go out beyond medical appointments. But given a choice no I will not continue to wear a mask after my second jab. I hope to be straight off the mark and get to my static in Norfolk for the whole summer once allowed. Can't wait for my wife to get to a hairdresser for a trim, first in nearly 12 months. Us males don't appreciate such enjoyments in life as mine is easy with my own clippers taking the whole lot off myself. But no both my wife and myself consider the matter closed after the second jab as the chances are we would only suffer mild symptoms after the jab. Therefore getting Covid after the vaccine is effectively just giving us extra immunity as this is the only real solution for the country. We need most youngsters to catch the disease to gain maximum immunity for future generations.

I’ve had my second dose of the vaccine but will still continue to wear a face mask until there is no longer a risk of infection. The vaccine ensures that you are less likely to get seriously ill but does not stop you from being infected

I've just had my first vaccine but even for some time after the second one, I feel it in everyone's interest to carry on with wearing mask, social distancing, washing hands etc, until appropriate to stop.

I will have 1st Covid vaccine today 11.10. Then in early March I have my next Ocrevus infusion. Then my second jab. MS Society has said it will be at least 3 weeks after 2nd one that I will have full protection, so I will be wearing mask for quite a while yet 🤞👍

We should all follow Government advice, and adhere to the rules.

I've had my first jab, Oxford Astra Zeneca, felt fine until mid evening. A headache started and got slowly worse, went to bed at 01.00 hrs. straight to sleep. 04.00 hrs shaking woke my wife and she woke me. Just a gentle shake at first then OMG. my wife sat on my stomach and held my arms down so that I couldn't hurt myself. This lasted for 40 minutes, then as quick as it arrived it went. I was at 'sixes and sevens' until early evening that day, all well since.

If you want to do as much as you can to save lives then we should ALL wear a 'mask' or 'face shield' and keep our distance. This blessed virus is here to stay for who knows how long? We have to rely  on the 'boffins' to get it right so that we can fight off this virus, and hopefully keep it under control. We've lived with the flu for years so now we have a new flu, the Covid virus, we'll fight that just the same. emoticon doctor

Everyone must THINK POSITIVE and stop moaning. GET ON WITH IT. It's here to STAY emoticon highfive

STAY SAFE.
