Hi all,

I'm having such a bad day today. Finding it hard to get on top of the depression that has come over me like a cloud. I'm also riddled with anxiety.. The depression and anxiety at the same time is completely doing my head in.

I just needed to tell someone..

Nic

Hiya Nic.

Sorry to read that you are struggling with your anxiety depression. I can totally relate to you as having being diagnosed with the same  My new partner is struggling with depression and has been self medicating previously with alcohol. He is now embracing all the available help but as you know ; taking medication/self help isn't a miracle cure.

Time along with the above is the answer though. Talk, talk and talk some more.

I completely understand how the dark cloud appears out of nowhere with no invitation.

Are you receiving any of the above?

The beauty of this group is that we have all experienced what you are going through on a daily basis. You have proved that you are willing to chat by your post. Chatting/posting on here will help to get you through.

From my own personal experience I never ever thought that I would be ever be happy /laugh again as I was in such a dark, frightening, lonely place despite being surrounded by family/friends.

To overcome my anxiety including the panic attacks ,i would focus on my breathing; something that I still do to this day when I  start feeling anxious.

Recognizing the signs of anxiety depression can help as you can put in to place coping strategies. ;Going for a walk taking time to notice the flowers instead of the weeds.  Exchanging negative thoughts for positive ones; hard I know when you are feeling low.

Accept that depression is like a bereavement and we all know that grief has no expiry date.

Don't over think things and try not to be over critical of yourself.

Do things for you; no matter how small. This will increase those precious "happy hormones".

Be accepting of the fact that depression is out of your control ; it is a chemical imbalance.

Delve deep to discover what is the underlying issue causing your anxiety depression; you will then be able to address those issues one at a time.

Focus on a little by little, day by day approach.

Hand on my heart ,although at this present moment in time you probably can't believe that you will ever feel any different ,you will; but it all takes time. I am in such a wonderful place now . Yes, I do have low days but then who doesn't?

Hope that this helps you a little.

Sending you bug hugs ,wrapped with love and positive thoughts.

Keep posting xxxx
