My husband suffered from ptsd but manages now .i have been harassed  threatened by neighbours due to my son being bullied .my 8year old wanted to end his life last week and has made me spin off the rails ,my husband has had to go away and I have no friends or family to support me .im currently waiting for CBT to start again due to my OCD and paronoia . I have come on here  some support and knowing I'm not on my own . I'm having more bad days than good and sick of these horrible feelings in my head

I am over twice your age and i can sincerely sympathise with you because i have suffered with depression for most of my adult life and i can assure you i have been in some really dark places where the black dog has been my companion. But there has been one thing that has helped me and that is to get out and go walking and what better companion to have and also to MAKE you go walking is to have a dog. I know on the surface this may sound silly but i can asure you its not, if you have a dog, if you love it you will have to walk it and when you walk it you will meet people and you will talk to them and you will make friends and you may well, at least whilst out with the dog, your well being will be lifted. Before getting a dog why not get into the habit of going for a walk and admiring nature, this time of year is truely beautiful and whilst out speak to people just say hello, and if you do this my bet is you will feel better, slowly but surely, why not give it a try.

Your Friend, Peter.

Totally agree with you Peter that walking is an excellent way to combat depression. I've also had spells of depression since the age of 17 and I'm 47 now. I can't have pets in my rented accommodation but go for a walk every day whatever the weather and it definitely lifts my mood.During the walk I admire nature and as you say this time of year is particularly beautiful with the Autumn colours. Em
